Code of Conduct
The primary purpose of CultureShockExpo is for attendees to have fun. To make this happen, CultureShockExpo has established certain rules of conduct. These rules were created to ensure that the behavior of any individual or group of attendees does not disturb the enjoyment of another attendee nor detract from the relaxed and comfortable atmosphere of the event. CultureShockExpo welcomes everyone; however, the event’s management reserves the right to deny or revoke the attendance of any individual, at any time, for any reason. This action may be undertaken when an individual’s presence or behavior causes significant interference with event operations or adversely affects the organization’s relationship with its guests or its venue. CultureShockExpo also reserves the right to amend these rules at any time without prior or posted notice. If you have any questions, please contact the event operations staff for assistance. Anyone who accepts a CultureShockExpo badge agrees to indemnify and hold harmless CultureShockExpo from any claim for personal injuries or other damages arising out of any individual’s activities at CultureShockExpo, even if such injury or damage is caused by negligence by or on the part of CultureShockExpo. Anyone who accepts a CultureShockExpo badge agrees to abide by our Code of Conduct.
General Rating of the Event
CultureShockExpo prides itself on presenting an atmosphere that is comfortable for pop culture fans of all ages and backgrounds. As such, CultureShockExpo attendees are expected to act accordingly. All event areas are considered “E for Everyone” at all times, except for events or exhibits that are specifically noted to be inappropriate for minors. Access to these activities is monitored by CultureShockExpo Security staff.
Attendance by Minors
CultureShockExpo strives to maintain an environment that is safe and enjoyable for attendees of all ages. However, CultureShockExpo cannot take responsibility for the actions of individual attendees nor assume responsibility for minors. A minor is defined as a person under 18 years of age who has not been legally emancipated from their parents or guardians. All minors must be escorted by an adult during the event. CultureShockExpo will not assume any responsibility, legal or otherwise, over any minor. Even with such permission, minors may not attempt to attend any events intended for mature audiences unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Firearm Policy
CultureShockExpo does not allow the possession of firearms at the event. Open Carry/CHL/LTC or any other combination does not grant permission to bring a firearm onto the premises. Unless you are previously approved Security/Staff for CultureShockExpo, please do not bring a firearm into the building. The only exception to this rule will be for off-duty peace officers, as we legally cannot deny their entry solely due to firearm possession. However, it will be the responsibility of the off-duty peace officer to identify themselves and provide their badge/ID when requested. We understand not everyone will read this, so we will implement a “check system” for unapproved items to be checked with CultureShockExpo Staff. Any checked-in items are left at your own risk, so we suggest making alternative arrangements. CultureShockExpo is not responsible for any damage or theft of checked items.
Weapons Policy
Prop weapons are welcome but must be checked in with security promptly upon arrival. Sharp corners, metal rods, or any other elements that may be dangerous to others will not be allowed. If constructing a prop, please err on the side of caution or contact us ahead of time for approval. No real weapons or any item that can be easily mistaken for a weapon may be carried openly or concealed at any time in event space, regardless of any concealed carry permits. A staff member may take any reasonable measures to ensure the continued safety of CultureShockExpo attendees, including remanding the attendee in question immediately to the custody of the local police. These policies are enforced at all times. You must check in any items deemed as potential weapons with our event staff or be prepared to return the item to your car/hotel room. CultureShockExpo Staff will not be held accountable for these items in any way. Items left with event staff are at your own risk.
Sales of Merchandise
The sale of any merchandise at the event may only take place in the Vendor area or by special arrangement with CultureShockExpo staff. All sales will be governed by the rules applicable to approved vendors. Anyone wishing to sell goods or merchandise must first obtain pre-approval from CultureShockExpo. Please note that it is illegal to sell merchandise or services in any area of the venue not designated for such activity. Unauthorized solicitation may result in removal from the event.
Personal Conduct in Event Areas and Venue Public Areas
There is no smoking or vaping in any portion of the convention center or hotel. Our hosts respectfully request that those who step outside to smoke refrain from standing directly in front of any entrances. Please be mindful of other guests who are not attending the event and maintain appropriate noise levels. Disorderly conduct, including fighting, inappropriate horseplay, or disruptive actions, may result in badge revocation. Attendees must not attempt to cross any barriers (such as curtains or stanchions) without being accompanied by a CultureShockExpo staff member. Unauthorized access to restricted areas may result in removal from the event.
Harassment Policy
CultureShockExpo provides a safe, welcoming, and harassment-free event experience for everyone. Harassment of any kind, including but not limited to physical assault, sexual assault, deliberate intimidation, stalking, harassing photography or recording, or unwelcome physical attention, will not be tolerated. If a person says “no” or asks you to leave them alone, you must do so. Violations of this policy may result in badge revocation without refund and removal from the premises. If you witness or experience harassment, please report it to event staff immediately.
Substance Abuse
The sale or distribution of any illegal or controlled substances is prohibited at CultureShockExpo. Any individual found distributing such substances will be removed and reported to the authorities. Alcoholic beverages must be consumed in private hotel rooms and not taken into event spaces. Providing alcohol to minors is illegal and will result in immediate removal from the event and notification to law enforcement.
Use of Video or Audio Recordings and Media Relations
For the purposes of this section, CultureShockExpo defines private happenings as concerts, panels, movies, tournaments, game rooms, and other events exclusive to attendees with valid badges. “Recording” refers to any form of media capture, including audio, visual, or otherwise. While attendees retain copyright to their recordings, CultureShockExpo grants them a Creative Commons license for personal, non-commercial use. Attendees grant CultureShockExpo permission to use event-related images or footage for promotional purposes. If you do not wish to be photographed or recorded, please inform CultureShockExpo staff.
Payments to CultureShockExpo
CultureShockExpo accepts cash and credit card payments through our registration system. Chargebacks made without sufficient cause or without first attempting to resolve disputes may result in permanent revocation of attendance privileges and potential legal action. Refunds must be processed on the same credit card used for the original purchase. CultureShockExpo does not accept checks or money orders.
Miscellaneous Notes
CultureShockExpo security volunteers will strictly enforce these standards of conduct. Your badge remains property of CultureShockExpo during the event and must be presented or surrendered upon request. Any disputes regarding staff actions should be directed to the Chief of Security or CultureShockExpo’s Operations Managers. CultureShockExpo is not liable for incidents occurring in private hotel rooms. Event attendees must obey all applicable local, state, and federal laws. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees. Have fun, and please be courteous to those around you.
